The 140 cubic inch (2.3 liter), 2-barrel, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine was an option which was rated at 150hp (at 4800 rpm) and 165ft-lb max torque (at 3600rpm). This page says, The 2.3 liter turbocharged engine has acceleration comparable to some other cars with V-8 engines. Plenty of reserve power for passing or freeway merging. The turbocharger is basically an air compressor driven by recycled exhaust gases. At your command, it pressurizes atmospheric air to increase the velocity of the fuel/air mixture. This simple principle produces great acceleration.
